South African plug

Big plug with two round pins and a thick round ground pin arranged in a triangle

This plug is the old British BS 546 15A plug. It has long since been phased out in its country of origin, but it still used in South Africa and former British colonies. The smaller 5A plug is type D. Both are shown in the drawing below. The South African plug has slightly longer live and neutral pins with insulating sleeves and carries a 16A rating. (Standard SABS 164)
