How does this compare to other lists on the net?The information on this site is based mainly on two sources: US department of Commerce and Steve Kropla. A lot more information have been added and a lot has been changed by me. Do a search on the net, and you will find that most information is based on these two sources. This sounds rather arrogant, but it has to be said: Most lists have been compiled by people with little understanding of electric systems. Information is often incorrect, outdated or simply made up (sic!).How accurate is this information?The information provided here contains errors and omissions. Please help me find them. I haved considered removing the Telephone and Television information, as I don't feel I can provide the quality of information I would like to.The electrical information is to my knowledge the best there is on the web, but if you contact the country of interest you will certainly get better information. I strongly recommend that to anyone who is going to move from one country to another do so. If you are exporting equipment, you will need to know more than there is on this site but hopefully this has made it easier to understand the answers you get. I would be impossible for this site to provide exhaustive information, it can only serve as an introduction. Can I get your database?I would love to make it available for download. However, as I have seen what has happened to other sources, I feel it would be a bad idea. The information is regularly corrected and updated, but the downloaded databases are not updated. This means that old information starts backfeeding into the "system" and obliterates corrections. People check with multiple sources to make sure. If I correct data here, the old information is still presented in other places. This means that the person who checks multiple sources is led to believe that the information presented here is incorrect. There is an example on the web of a man who has been collecting information on electrical systems for the past twenty years and citing the number of sources. The result is that most information he presents is incorrect. |
